Car Accident Lawyer Marietta, GA
One in ten Georgia drivers will be involved in a car accident this year according to the Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Service. If you have been injured in a car accident, contact the car accident lawyer in Atlanta, Steven Barnett, for legal representation and collect the compensation you deserve.
Each year, over 1,600 people die in traffic accidents in Georgia, according to the National Highway Traffic Administration, while tens of thousands of people across the state are injured while driving their cars, trucks, or motorcycles.
Car accidents are traumatic when they occur, but many times the aftermath of the wreck can be just as stressful and overwhelming.
In addition to any injuries that you might have received during your traffic accident, you may be faced with exorbitant medical bills, lost wages, a lack of transportation, physical therapy or long term disabilities.
Car Accident Victims Need Effective, Dedicated Advocates
As someone who once defended insurance companies in injury cases, I have a firsthand understanding of how insurance companies work. Unfortunately, receiving a fair and swift settlement is often not as easy as making a claim and waiting for your check to arrive in the mail. Insurance companies make money by delaying and denying claims, creating red tape, and deceiving people into thinking that they are getting what they deserve. When you don’t know how the system works, you need someone on your side who does.
At the Law Offices of Steven M. Barnett, PC, I work with accident victims and against insurance companies every day. As an Atlanta car accident attorney, I make certain that my clients have both experienced guidance to lead them through the process as well as a strong, compassionate voice to represent their case and their needs. Although some car or truck wreck victims decide to handle their cases on their own, it is simply not as efficient or effective. If you broke your leg, would you try to set it and put a cast on yourself–I would hope not.

Wrecks
-
Do not move if you feel you are seriously hurt, unless your life is otherwise threatened. Call 911 and stay at the scene;
-
Check on all others to secure medical care. If appropriate, call an ambulance. Don’t move anyone that is unconscious or that may have serious injuries;
-
Call family or friends to help wherever they can;
-
Take pictures of the damage to all vehicles and things involved;
-
Exchange information with all other drivers (name, address, phone #, auto insurance company, policy number, named insured);
-
Talk to any witnesses. Get their names and contact information;
-
By phone and in writing, promptly notify your auto insurance company of the wreck;
-
Do not post anything on social media about the wreck. But, keep pictures, witness statements and other information in a secure location;
-
If the at-fault driver’s insurance company calls you, only talk about the property damage (your vehicle) to coordinate the repairs or total loss. Do not give recorded statements and do not go into detail about your injuries. You may say you were injured and that you will be back in touch about your injuries later;
-
Do not accept any settlement offers for your bodily injury until ALL medical care related to the wreck is finished. Be careful of “early” settlement offers.
-
Do not sign anything until you are sure that it does not affect other claims you may have. For example, a property damage release could have language in it that affects your bodily injury claim.
